Our second day of the Mesopotamia Guided Tour will begin at 8:00. We will meet at the Babyl Hotel, Al-Hillah, Iraq. You will be provided with the time to eat breakfast at the hotel. Taking our private coach, we will be traveling to the Ancient city of Ur, within an approximate time of 2 hours and 31 minutes. Once we arrive at the Great Ziggurat of Ur, we will have around 1 hour to explore the site, including climbing to the top. We will then walk for approximately 29 minutes to our second destination of the day, the Royal Tombs of Ur.
Once we reach the Royal Tombs of Ur, we will explore four of its tombs. This will take around 3-4 hours. We will then take a short Lunch Break, where we will provide you with a packed Lunch, due to there being no nearby Restaurants. We will then take our private coach for a 19 minute ride to our final destination of the second day of the Guided Tour, by the banks of the Euphrates River.
We will be spending the rest of our day by the Euphrates, where we have organized a workshop for you to experience and learn about the different Specialized Jobs in Ancient Mesopotamia. Beginning in the Upper Class, we will teach the basics of how to read and write cuneiform writing, which was performed by Scribes. We will also read several chapters of the poetic literature of The Epic of Gilgamesh, which was originally written in cuneiform scripts. Within the Lower Class, we will provide you with a Jewelry-Making Workshop, an essential job for Jewelry-Makers and fishing session in the Euphrates River, which was a job occupied by Fishermen. At approximately 20:00 we will take a 22 minute drive with our private coach to the Urk Hotel, where Dinner is provided. We will then reach the end of our second day of the Mesopotamia Guided Tour.
