Ancient Uruk, Warka, Iraq
Ancient Uruk, is commonly known as the modern city of Warka, Iraq (City). It is believed that Uruk was the first city in the world. Uruk is well known for its great king “Gilgamesh” from the poetic literature The Epic of Gilgamesh. In addition, Uruk is famous for its origins of developments including writing (Written Language), the ziggurat and the cylinder seal. Although there is very little of the city today, the history of Ur is still to be excavated.
